Garage Cleanout in
Steele Creek
Berewick, Rivergate and the fast-growing 28273/28278 subdivisions running southwest toward the airport and Lake Wylie — new homes, young families, and a lot of two-car garages that filled up quicker than anyone planned. We clear them at a flat truck-fill price from $241, quoted from one photo, and load straight from the garage so nothing ends up at the curb. New-build move-in debris a specialty. No NC sales tax on the service.
The new-build belt's garage problem
Steele Creek is one of Charlotte's fastest-growing corners — a steady run of new closings in Berewick, Rivergate, Palisades and the subdivisions filling in along Steele Creek Road and Whitehall. Two things reliably clog a garage out here. First, move-in debris: the flattened boxes, foam, plastic wrap and leftover materials that pile up the week you take the keys. Second, the ordinary backlog that builds in a family garage over a few fast years — the demoted furniture, the outgrown kid gear, the dead appliance from a swap. Either way, the fix is the same: a flat truck-fill quote from a photo, one visit, and everything loaded straight from the garage — never staged at the curb, which the builder's HOA won't allow anyway.
How it works
1 · Send a photo
One wide shot of the open garage. You get an exact flat truck-fill price back in seconds — no estimate visit, no sales callback.
2 · Pick a window
Same or next day is often open across the 28273/28278 subdivisions. Tell us if you're on a move-in week or a listing date.
3 · We load & sweep
An insured crew backs into the driveway, loads straight from the garage, sweeps the floor, and routes the usable gear to donation.
How much does a garage cleanout cost in Steele Creek?
Garages are priced flat as truck-fill — the space it takes in the truck — quoted from your photo with loading, sweep-out and disposal already included. National cost guides put a full garage cleanout with a traditional hauler at roughly $400–$800 after a minimum and an in-home estimate. Ours starts at a flat $241 for a quarter load; a packed two-car garage that fills a truck is $732.
| How full | Flat price |
|---|---|
| Quarter truck (move-in debris or one corner) | $241 |
| Half truck (one bay) | $431 |
| Three-quarter truck | $587 |
| Full truck (a packed two-car garage) | $732 |
$75 minimum for a small load. A garage plus the attic and a few rooms simply takes more than one truck — we price the total flat from your photos. Old appliances, a mower, shelving and a workbench are all part of the fill, with no per-item surcharge. No NC sales tax on the service — the flat price is all-in.
4 ways to clear a garage in Steele Creek
| Option | Cost | Speed | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| City of Charlotte bulky pickup | Free | Up to ~5 business days | By appointment, curbside-only, at the curb by 6 AM — and it won't take construction debris, so most new-build move-in material doesn't even qualify |
| Rent a dumpster | $350–500+ | Days in the driveway | You load it all yourself, it sits in the driveway against the new HOA's rules, and you sort donation from trash |
| Self-haul to a county D&R center | Free–low | Multiple trips | County residents; you need a truck and several runs to empty a full garage of boxes and old furniture |
| JunkRabbit | From $241 flat | Same/next day | None — photo quote, loaded from the garage, nothing at the curb, you lift nothing |
Does the City of Charlotte pick up move-in debris?
Mostly no. City of Charlotte Solid Waste offers a free curbside bulky pickup, but it's by appointment with up to about five business days to wait, everything has to be at the curb by 6:00 AM with three feet of clearance, small heavy pieces are capped around 75 pounds, and — the key one for a new build — it won't take construction or demolition debris. A lot of what a fresh closing leaves behind (offcuts, packaging bundles, leftover materials) falls into exactly that excluded category. You'd book it through CharMeck 311 (704-336-7600) or servicerequest.charlottenc.gov, then still be stuck.
And in the Berewick / Rivergate subdivisions there's the HOA layer on top: a garage's worth of debris can't sit at the curb for a week without a covenant letter. So the free program that technically exists doesn't fit the neighborhood or the material. We clear it same or next day, take the debris the city won't, and load it from the garage so nothing is ever staged where the HOA can flag it.
What we clear out of a Steele Creek garage
- New-build move-in debris — flattened boxes, foam, plastic wrap, packaging and leftover build materials after a closing.
- The family backlog — outgrown kid and baby gear, sports equipment, holiday bins and boxes that never made it inside.
- Demoted furniture — the sofa, dresser or dining set that got parked in the garage when the new one arrived.
- Appliances — an old fridge, washer or water heater; refrigerant units handled the right way.
- Yard & workshop gear — mower, grill, workbench, metal shelving and tools.
- Attic & crawlspace — cleared in the same trip; these homes have attics and crawlspaces, not basements.
Where it all goes
Anything still usable is routed to donation — Habitat for Humanity ReStore (Charlotte Region), Goodwill of the Southern Piedmont, The Salvation Army and the Crisis Assistance Ministry Furniture Bank — so good furniture and kid gear gets a second home instead of the landfill. Metal shelving, appliances and scrap are recycled, and the remainder goes to a Mecklenburg County Disposal & Recycling Center (Compost Central on Valleydale Road, or Foxhole on Lancaster Highway to the south). County tipping is cheap and we divert what we can, which is precisely why the flat truck-fill price holds — no separate dump fee at the end, and no NC sales tax.
Easy drive-up, loaded from the home
Steele Creek is the operational easy button — flat driveways, two-car garages, wide new streets, no elevators or stairs. That low access friction is why the price stays flat instead of collecting surcharges. What matters here is the same wedge as the rest of Charlotte's suburbs: the HOA curb-staging rule. Rather than leave a pile at the curb waiting on the city, our crew backs into the driveway and loads every piece straight from the garage into the truck. Nothing sits out, nothing draws a covenant notice, and the garage is empty and swept in one visit — whether you just moved in, you're staging to list, or you're finally reclaiming the parking after a few full years.

What Steele Creek homeowners say
"Closed on our Berewick house and the garage was wall-to-wall boxes and foam. The city won't take that stuff and our HOA won't let it sit out. JunkRabbit sent a flat price off one photo and cleared it the next morning — loaded from the garage, swept it clean."
"Three kids and a two-car garage means five years of outgrown everything. They took the old swing set, a dead treadmill and stacks of bins in one truck. Flat price, no tax surprise, and both cars finally fit."
"Selling and needed the garage empty for photos by the weekend. Booked from a picture, they came Saturday, loaded straight from the garage, donated most of it. Easiest part of the whole move."
