Some Charlotte couch services are curbside only: you get the sofa down the stairs and out to the street, and they drive by. We come in and carry it. A sofa is $126, a loveseat $119, a three-piece sectional $185 — from a third-floor walk-up or the bonus room over the garage, same price.

Sectionals come apart at the connectors and leave piece by piece. Sleeper sofas get their fold-out frame strapped shut so it can’t open on the stairs — that frame is why they weigh so much more than they look.
South End and University City buildings often have loading docks, elevator reservations and move-out hours. Tell us the rules and the pickup is booked inside them.
A couch in good, clean condition is set aside for donation. Torn, stained or broken ones go to disposal. Either way, it’s handled after it leaves your home, and nothing waits on your lawn.
If you get City of Charlotte garbage service, a couch can go on a scheduled bulky pickup — booked through 311, out at the curb by 6 a.m.
Mint Hill says bulky items must be privately hauled, and Cornelius has no bulky pickup. Unincorporated Mecklenburg has no county collection at all.
County full-service centers take bulky furniture, if you have a truck and a helper to load it.
