Junk Removal Wesley Heights & West End
Junk Removal in
Wesley Heights & West End
The historic bungalow blocks just west of Uptown — Wesley Heights, West End and Biddleville, wrapped around Johnson C. Smith University — are changing block by block. That mix of long-time homes and fast-moving flips gives this side of town two jobs at once: renovation and demo debris from the remodels, and bungalow attic, garage and crawlspace cleanouts for the residents who have been here for years and the buyers just arriving. One flat photo-quoted price for either. Serving 28208.
A west-side neighborhood in the middle of changing
Wesley Heights, West End and Biddleville sit on the near-west side, a quick jump across the tracks from Uptown and gathered around the campus of Johnson C. Smith University. For a long time these were quiet, affordable, historically Black bungalow streets — 28208 still runs well below the citywide income line — but they've become one of Charlotte's fastest-turning neighborhoods, with investors and new owners buying the old Craftsman and mill cottages to flip, restore or expand. That collision of value and change is exactly what shapes the junk work here, and it pulls in two directions at once.
On one side there's the renovation and flip debris: a bungalow getting gutted throws off torn-out cabinets, old flooring and subfloor, plaster and lath, busted fixtures, and the previous owner's abandoned furniture — bulky, heavy, and off-limits to the city truck. On the other side there's the bungalow cleanout for the people who actually live here: a family clearing decades out of a home they've held for generations, or a new buyer emptying what the last owner left behind. Because these houses sit on crawlspaces and slabs, not basements, all of that lives in the attic, the detached garage and the low crawlspace — and we bring every bit of it out ourselves. Send photos, get one flat number that already covers labor, truck, drive and disposal, with no NC sales-tax line at the end.
What we carry out on the west side
- Renovation & flip debris — demo materials, old cabinets and countertops, flooring, plaster, fixtures and jobsite scrap, priced by the cubic yard or as a truck-fill.
- Bungalow attic cleanouts — the boxes, old furniture and stored years that ride up the steep back stair or pull-down, brought down by hand.
- Detached-garage clears — tools, paint, lawn gear and abandoned furniture pulled straight from the back-lot garage.
- Crawlspace clean-outs — low, tight and awkward; we go under and haul out what's been stashed for years.
- Whole-home cleanouts — a generational bungalow or a just-bought flip emptied top to bottom, donation-routed and broom-clean.
The flip debris the city won't touch
The signature west-side headache is what a remodel leaves behind. A bungalow being brought back to life generates a startling amount of weight — cabinets and countertops ripped out of the kitchen, hardwood and tile pulled up off the subfloor, plaster and lath off the walls, old windows, a claw-foot tub, and the furniture the last owner walked away from. None of it can legally go to the curb: City of Charlotte bulky pickup takes no construction or demolition debris at all, so a contractor pile just sits there. We clear it instead — renovation and construction debris runs $120 per cubic yard, and a full gut-job clear prices as a truck-fill. You send photos of the pile, we quote the flat number, and we load it straight off the jobsite so the crew can keep working. Usable cabinets, doors and fixtures get routed to Habitat ReStore rather than the landfill wherever they can be reused.

Does the City of Charlotte pick up bulky junk in Wesley Heights?
For a lived-in bungalow it can, with strings; for a renovation it can't at all. City of Charlotte Solid Waste offers free curbside bulky pickup by appointment — booked through 311 (704-336-7600) or servicerequest.charlottenc.gov, with up to about five business days to wait. The item has to be at the curb by 6:00 AM on the scheduled day, three feet clear of carts and mailboxes, and small heavy pieces must be under 75 pounds. Crucially, the city won't take construction or demolition debris, TVs, computers, HVAC units or hazardous materials — which is most of what a flip produces. So for a remodel you'd have no legal curbside option, and for a cleanout you'd still be dragging everything out of the attic and garage and waiting a week. We carry it from wherever it sits, usually the same day, and take the debris the city refuses.

What Wesley Heights customers say
"We're flipping a bungalow off West Trade and had a full kitchen's worth of old cabinets, flooring and plaster stacked in the yard. They quoted it by the cubic yard from photos and cleared the whole pile in one trip so my crew could keep moving."
"My grandmother's home near Johnson C. Smith had fifty years in the attic and the back garage. They brought it all down and out themselves, donated what they could, and gave us one fair flat price for a hard week. Respectful the whole time."
"Bought our first house in West End and the previous owner left the crawlspace and garage packed. Sent photos, got a flat number, gone the same afternoon. No dragging anything to the curb."
