Junk Removal Matthews
Junk Removal in
Matthews
Matthews is its own town, not a Charlotte neighborhood — a historic downtown ringed by established subdivisions and newer builds, full of suburban families with two-car garages and decades of accumulation. The everyday jobs here are garage cleanouts, whole-home estate cleanouts and new-build move-in debris. And because Matthews runs its own waste program — not City of Charlotte's — the answer to "does the town pick up my couch?" is different here. We carry it out for one flat photo-quoted price. Serving 28105.
An incorporated town with its own everything
Matthews sits southeast of Charlotte along Independence Boulevard and Monroe Road, and it's genuinely a town of its own — its own council, its own police, and, importantly for junk, its own solid-waste program. The housing runs from 1920s–40s homes around the historic Matthews downtown and depot to the wave of subdivisions and newer builds that filled in through the 2000s and 2010s. That mix drives three steady jobs: aging-in-place owners in the older homes need estate and downsizing cleanouts; established families need the two-car garage emptied out; and buyers settling into a new build need the move-in debris hauled off.
Charlotte homes — Matthews included — are built on slabs and crawlspaces, not basements, so the accumulation lives in the garage, the walk-up attic and the crawlspace, and we clear all of it. Access here is about as easy as junk removal gets: flat lots, wide driveways, room to back a truck right up to the garage door. You send photos, we send back one flat number covering labor, truck, drive and disposal — and because North Carolina doesn't tax junk removal, there's no sales-tax line at the end and no day-of upcharge. Usable furniture goes to Habitat ReStore, Goodwill or the Furniture Bank with a receipt where it helps.
What we clear in Matthews
- Two-car-garage cleanouts — tools, gear, bikes, old furniture, holiday bins and the crawlspace overflow, loaded from the garage and priced as a truck-fill.
- Whole-home estate cleanouts — downsizing and generational-home clears in the older downtown homes, room by room plus attic and crawlspace, donation-routed and broom-clean.
- New-build move-in debris — packing paper, wardrobe boxes, crates, flooring offcuts and leftover fixtures from settling into a new Matthews subdivision.
- Appliance swap-outs — refrigerators, washers, dryers and water heaters, with EPA-required freon recovery on refrigerant units.
- Single heavy pieces — a sectional, a treadmill, a china cabinet or an old fridge carried out without a scuff on the trim.
Does the Town of Matthews pick up my couch?
This is the question that trips people up, because the Matthews answer is not the Charlotte answer. Matthews isn't on City of Charlotte Solid Waste — the town contracts its collection to Waste Pro, and bulky-item pickup is a paid, scheduled, curbside service. You call Waste Pro at 980-325-3640 to book it, pay a per-item fee, and then you still have to drag the couch out to the curb yourself for collection on your regular trash day — and Waste Pro won't take TVs. For a single small item that you can move on your own, the town program is a fine, cheap option, and we'll happily tell you so.
But for anything heavy, anything upstairs, anything the town won't take, or a whole garage or estate at once, it's the wrong tool. We're the full-service alternative: our crew comes inside, carries every piece out — garage, attic, crawlspace, wherever it sits — and hauls it in one trip, usually same-day, for one flat photo-quoted price. No booking a fee per item, no hauling it to the street yourself, no waiting on a collection day, and we take the TVs and electronics the town leaves behind.

Estate cleanouts in the older downtown homes
Matthews' historic core — the streets around the old depot and Trade Street — is full of homes that have been in the same family for decades, and when it's time to downsize or settle an estate, the job is the whole house at once. We handle those start to finish: the furniture, the attic full of boxes, the packed crawlspace, the garage that hasn't been parked in for years. We work quietly and carefully in an older, close-knit neighborhood, protect floors and doorways on the way out, and route anything resellable to donation with a tax receipt for the estate. Executors juggling an out-of-town sale can book it across a couple of days and get one flat, all-in number for the clear — no hourly meter running while a house full of a lifetime gets sorted.
Why Matthews neighbors call us
- We carry it out. No dragging heavy pieces to the curb for the town's paid, per-item Waste Pro pickup — our crew loads from the room.
- Same-day when you need it. Easy flat-lot access off Independence and Monroe means quick same- and next-day slots.
- Flat price from a photo. The exact all-in number before we roll, with no NC sales tax and nothing added at the end.
- We take what the town won't. TVs, electronics and awkward heavy items the Waste Pro program refuses.
- Whole-home ready, donation-routed and insured. Garage, attic, crawlspace and every room in one clear, good pieces to ReStore, Goodwill and the Furniture Bank.
What Matthews customers say
"Settled my mother's house off Trade Street — decades of furniture, a full attic, a packed crawlspace. They cleared the whole place over two days, donated what they could and gave me the receipts for the estate. One flat price, handled with real care."
"Looked into the town's Waste Pro bulk pickup, but I'd have had to wrestle a sleeper sofa and a dead treadmill to the curb myself and pay per item. These guys carried both out of the bonus room the same afternoon for one flat quote. Worth every dollar."
"New build in a subdivision off Weddington Road and the garage was buried in boxes and packing foam. Sent photos, got a price, and it was gone the same day so we could finally park. Nothing left at the curb."
